Actor David Sharp will be appearing in Final Day a Dramatic Musical, an original play with 15 musical numbers, Sunday, October 19, 2PM at 15 W28th St., NYC. Based on many actual events, it is a historical fiction with a love story between a German prison guard and a Jewish girl prisoner on the final day of WWII in Europe. Jim Hawkins and Kate Danaher will do a performance of their show, “Stories By A Turf Fire – The Life and Stories of Eamon Kelly,” Friday, September 26, 7 P.M. at the Shoreham-Wading River Library in Suffolk County. Eamon Kelly is one of the great storytellers of the world. In this performance, Jim and Kate will tell the story of Eamon’s life, discuss the influences on his storytelling and tell many of his stories. Admission is free but call the library to make a reservation.

Honor Finnegan will be performing in NJ at the Montclair Center Stage Presents Outpost in the Burbs, Saturday, August 9th, 5:30pm, Church Street at the corner of South Fullerton, Montclair, NJ. It’s an evening of free live music in the heart of Montclair’s Downtown! The Outpost goes outdoors on Church Street for an evening of FREE music in collaboration with Montclair Center Stage! Tara O’Grady’s band will be performing on Friday, August 15 at Brasserie Magritte. They’re throwing a party to celebrate the Belgian artist Rene Magritte. Author and native Bronxite Martin Kleinman will be making a special presentation of his book Home Front: The Collection, this Saturday, August 16th, 4-6pm at the Bronx Writers Center, 2700 E Tremont Avenue, Bronx 10461 (#6 train to Westchester Square). Home Front is a short story collection that takes the reader from New York City to Belgium to New England and beyond. Described by author Jennifer Cody Epstein (“The Gods of Heavenly Punishment”) as “diverse, irreverent and grittily lyrical” these tales represent urban street realism with honest lingo and tone, introducing us to a cast of characters both shocking and familiar. The presentation will close with a Q&A where participants can ask the author questions about writing and the publishing process. An intermission with refreshments and live classical guitar will enable artists and guests to get acquainted. Celebrate Poetry Month by attending a free poetry reading with Angela Alaimo O’Donnell. Her most recent book of poems, “Waking My Mother” is a collection of elegies focused on the relationships between mothers and daughters. Her previous book, “Saint Sinatra & Other Poems” was nominated for the Arlin G. Meyer Prize in Imaginative Writing. The event is sponsored by Poets @ St. Paul’s, a writing collective that gathers monthly at the Church of St. Paul the Apostle to read, discuss and learn more about the art and craft of poetry. All are welcome to this reading which begins at 7pm on Monday, April 28^th at 405 W 59^th Street, the parish center.

Artists Without Walls' "Rise Up Singing" — **Artists Without Walls’ “Rise Up Singing”**

Experience a wonderful collection of actors and musicians on Thursday, May 1, 7pm, at Lehman College, 250 West Bedford Park Blvd, Bronx, NY, as they perform in an Artists Without Walls’ production, “Rise Up Singing.” The show, a multimedia presentation, explores the problems confronted by women and children in the workforce, past and present, through the use of song, live theater and film. JAZZ ARTISTS SHARP RADWAY and ANTOINETTE MONTAGUE at HOFSTRA, TUESDAY, 2/18 2:15PM

Two outstanding jazz artists, pianist Sharp Radway and vocalist Antoinette Montague, both well known on the New York jazz scene, will be performing on Long Island at the “Artists Without Walls’ Showcase at Hofstra University,” tomorrow, Tuesday, Feb. 18 at 2:15pm in the Helene Fortunoff Theater located in Monroe Lecture Hall. It’s a free event, thanks to a generous grant from the Hofstra Cultural Center and the great support of the Irish Studies program.

Sharp Radway is composer/arranger/author and self-taught pianist whose roots can be found in the church. As a jazz pianist he has played throughout the country and abroad. Among the recording artists whom he has worked and/or recorded with are Bucky Pizzarelli, Yusef Lateef, Benny Golson, Peewee Ellis, Diane Schuur, Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, to name a few. In addition to playing the piano he is also a prolific composer, arranger and the author of the book Musicianship 101 (What They Don’t Tell You In School).

Jazz singer Antoinette Montague has a love of humanity and music that brings joy to people. Born and raised in Newark, Antoinette Montague was drawn to the music by her mother–“She was always singing and sounded like Ella Fitzgerald”–and listening to Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington. Antoinette has played most of the major jazz clubs in New York, including Lincoln Center’s Dizzy’s Club Coca Cola, the Lenox Lounge and the Blue Note.
